Two ways venues work with us — two fee models

Who runs the editorial process decides who pays what. Both models are stated openly below.

Independent venues
Your venue, your editorial control

Your chairs and editors run submissions, peer review, decisions, and your own author-fee policy. Technology Fist provides the platform and, if you publish here, the production infrastructure.

  • An annual platform plan (below), and
  • if you publish through the platform: a one-time venue publishing setup fee plus a per-paper publication processing fee — both charged to the venue, never to your authors.
  • Your authors pay you under your own policies — platform APCs do not apply.
Technology Fist venues
Under our editorial umbrella

Venues owned by Technology Fist — or independent venues accepted into the umbrella after meeting our workflow and quality requirements — run under our direct editorial oversight and publishing programme.

  • Authors pay a single Article Processing Charge (APC) through the platform, only after acceptance.
  • Full Technology Fist process: moderation, ethics framework, production, and we prepare and submit your indexing applications for you.
  • Want your venue under the umbrella? Talk to us about the additional workflow requirements.
Publishing here is not indexing. For independent venues, the platform provides the submission system and the publication venue: DOI registration, open-access hosting, citation-ready metadata, and machine-readable exports. Indexing in external databases (Scopus, Web of Science, DOAJ, and similar) is a separate process run by those services under their own criteria — it remains each independent venue's own responsibility and agreement. Venues in the Technology Fist umbrella are covered by our own indexing programme.

One platform. Four plans.

Conference and journal organizers subscribe to AMS as annual software plans. Everything is delivered online — your venue is provisioned here and runs here for the full term.

Optional modules — the Federation Reviewer Network, portable peer review between venues, indexing & compliance readiness, and the live event layer (registration & verifiable certificates) sit outside the plans and are switched on per venue on request. See the full feature list.

Custom — a negotiated feature set for organisations whose agreement does not fit a tier (multiple venues, special integrations, institutional terms). Talk to us.

Prices in USD, exclusive of any applicable taxes. A license covers one venue for 12 months from activation and does not renew without your confirmation. Full commercial terms and checkout: techfist.org/pricing.

How publishing works — the two models

Your venue publishes a paper
accepted → camera-ready → published on the record. Then: who runs production, fees and indexing?
Model 1 · Independent venue
You keep control - we provide the machinery
  • Your APC policy and prices; authors pay you (your own gateways or the TF collection service).
  • TF produces the DOI-registered edition and digital-library pages; you are billed a flat per published paper processing fee - never your authors.
  • Indexing (Scopus, WoS, DOAJ…) is your application, under your ISSN/ISBN.
Model 2 · Under the TF umbrella
We run the whole pipeline for you
  • Authors pay one platform APC to TF - it covers production, DOI registration, hosting, and preparing and submitting your indexing applications (Scopus, DOAJ, Web of Science and similar). Those databases decide for themselves; we do the work, not the deciding.
  • Available on the Publishing plan after the umbrella requirements checklist is completed and verified - quality gates, not paperwork.
  • Suited to venues that want publishing handled end to end.

Preprints follow their own path: posting is free, and includes moderated public posting plus the signed community-review feature, controlled by the author. No plan required.

Publication processing for independent venues

When an independent venue publishes through the platform (AMS Core Plus & Publishing), production is billed to the venue — simple and per-paper, so a small proceedings costs little and nothing is charged to your authors by us:

$149 one-time
Venue publishing setup: digital-library page, DOI prefix wiring, issue/volume structure, OAI-PMH & feeds.
$25 per published paper
Publication processing: DOI registration, permanent hosting, citation & metadata services, author proofing round.
$0
Charged by us to your authors. Your author-fee policy is yours; rejected or withdrawn papers cost nothing.

Need custom features, migration, or hands-on support? We provide both — ask for a quote. Venues that prefer the full-service model can apply to join the Technology Fist umbrella instead.

Preprints: free to post, two things included

Posting a preprint is separate from both models above — there is no subscription and no APC. Posting is free on every collection: no subscription, no APC, no posting fee.

Free to post
1. The full publishing feature set

The same infrastructure that carries a published journal article:

  • Moderator screening for scope, completeness and integrity
  • Registered DOI, resolving permanently
  • Public preprint page and open-access hosting, kept indefinitely
  • Version history — each version separately citable
  • Citation & metadata services: BibTeX/RIS, OAI-PMH, indexer-ready XML
  • Automatic linking to the version of record on publication
2. Community review — controlled by the author

Signed reviews by platform members, open for anyone to read:

  • Reviews carry the reviewer's real name, affiliation, ORCID and competing interests — never anonymous
  • The author chooses: approve each review first (default), publish immediately, or reviews off
  • The author can reply publicly to any review
  • A withdrawn review leaves a dated public notice — the record is never quietly rewritten
  • Reviews are readers' opinions, not an editorial decision by Technology Fist

Each preprint collection sets its own posting fee and many are free; the exact amount is shown before submission. Nothing further is charged — not for extra versions, not for reviews, and never for reading. See the preprint policies →

For authors: the Article Processing Charge

On Technology Fist-owned venues, authors pay one charge, once, and only after acceptance. It is a platform-usage fee — it covers your paper's use of AMS and the publishing process, never the editorial decision.

What the APC covers
  • Submission & peer-review infrastructure
  • Production processing of the accepted manuscript
  • DOI registration & permanent linking
  • Digital-library hosting
  • Citation & metadata services (BibTeX/RIS, OAI-PMH)
Typical range
USD 50 - 600 per accepted paper
  • Each venue displays its exact APC before you submit.
  • Charged only after editorial acceptance, securely inside AMS.
  • An APC never buys acceptance — decisions happen in peer review.
Platform APCs apply only to Technology Fist-owned venues. If you are submitting to an independent conference or journal hosted here, any author fee is set, disclosed, and collected by that venue's own organizers under their own policy — Technology Fist charges that venue's organizers for the platform and publication processing, not you.
